Nigerian Youths for Atiku (NYFA), a pro-Atiku advocacy group, has urged Chief Bode George, the former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to refrain from criticizing and opposing the presidential aspirations of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
Dare Dada, the Director of Communications for NYFA (Nigeria and Diaspora), expressed this request in a statement released on Sunday in Lagos, characterizing George’s opposition as that of “a staunch supporter of Tinubu and the APC.”
“Bode George ought to establish a campaign office in Lagos for Bola Tinubu’s re-election, as his persistent attacks and opposition to Atiku in the run-up to 2027 are becoming increasingly irrational and bothersome.
“Notably, he stands alone in this endeavor. The Nigerian populace has moved on from him. The prevailing sentiment across the nation is centered on how to uplift our country from its current challenges, and with Atiku, the prospects are significantly promising,” Dada remarked.
Dada further criticized George’s contributions to the PDP, alleging that he has played a role in the party’s decline in Lagos and the departure of prominent members.
“Chief George is among those politicians accountable for the unfortunate state of the PDP today; his ongoing jealousy towards Atiku Abubakar is well recognized,” he stated.
He dismissed George as a “local champion” who has failed to secure his polling unit for the PDP in previous elections.
“As a senior member of the party, he should concentrate on revitalizing the PDP instead of attacking Atiku. We have observed with disappointment how George, who has lost political influence and relevance, continues to target Atiku in an attempt to remain in the public eye,” Dada added.
The NYFA asserted that Atiku is the most formidable challenger to President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming election, questioning which of George’s favored candidates could effectively contest against Tinubu.
“We pose the question: Who among his preferred candidates can successfully defeat President Tinubu in the current situation if not Atiku Abubakar? Or does he mistakenly believe he is suitable for the role?” Dada inquired.
“We urge Chief George to stop the pretences. It is public knowledge that he is an avowed apologist of Tinubu and the APC. Nigerians now know better,” Dada further claimed.
