“There is no sector where they have not failed. They have disappointed Nigerians in almost every sphere. The economy is in dire straits, insecurity is ravaging the country…”
Residents of Osun state’s capital, Osogbo, gathered in large numbers on Tuesday as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) inaugurated the state’s party secretariat, following the completion of the Federal Constituency Tour led by the former Governor of the state and National Secretary of the party, Rauf Aregbesola.
Other notable figures present at Tuesday’s event included Engr. Jide Adeniji, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile, Revd. Adelowo Adebiyi, Senator Adelere Oriolowo, Mr. Jide Bewaji, along with various leaders of the ADC.
During the event, Aregbesola expressed his belief that the tenure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will end in the upcoming general election, asserting that the APC-led Federal Government has woefully failed in areas such as the economy, security, and other essential sectors of national life. Consequently, he urged Nigerians to reject the party in 2027.
In his speech to party supporters and loyalists, Aregbesola expressed gratitude for their longstanding support of his political journey. He called upon them to unite Nigerians to speak with a unified voice and to mobilize the electorate to remove the current ruling parties at all levels.
The former Governor of Osun emphasized that his party, the ADC, offers a viable alternative to tackle the nation’s issues of insecurity, poor governance, poverty, hunger, and the lack of effective administration.
He said “There is nowhere in Osun that the people do not resonate with what we represent. Our achievements and legacies when we were here continue to speak for us. That is why we get the kind of reception we have anytime we come here, particularly Osogbo, the state capital.
“There is no sector where they have not failed. They have disappointed Nigerians in almost every sphere. The economy is in dire straits, insecurity is ravaging the country, as well as many pitfalls of the present administration.
“The only viable alternative to all of these is our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is poised to liberate the people and make life more abundant for the masses.|”
“We are glad that our people have resolved to vote out an incompetent government. Our party, if elected, will correct all of the governance misnormals and set the tone for our dear state, Osun and country to witness a masses oriented development.
“Continue to mobilise and draw more people to join the party and participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. We promise you all a government of vision, mission and direction,”
Aregbesola, speaking in his native Yoruba language, further stated that “God has left the present government, and even the government at the centre. They used to rig elections, we know their tactics.
“Ahead of the next election, start taking good care of women, who are no longer of childbearing age. On the day of the poll, give them new clothes, and let them sit in a group of 10 per polling booth and leave the rest to God.
“Those in government now tried their best, but God is not with them because they didn’t start with God. They are selfish. They started with the word ’emi, instead of awa’. They have been disgraceful in all sectors, in the economy, security, governance, and others,”
Before then, Aregbesola had led the ADC entourage and party leaders to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, for a courtesy visit.
During the reception of the former Minister and his delegation in his palace, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, expressed his commitment to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in its efforts to reclaim the state.
The Ataoja, who reminisced about the significant transformation of Osogbo into a modern capital city during Aregbesola’s tenure (2010-2018), assured that the residents of the town would support the party in the upcoming 2026 elections.
the monarch stated that “Aregbesola’s journey this time around is different. This is because he has come now to work assiduously for the betterment of the people of Osun.
“He is one man I respect a lot, because when some naysayers were mounting pressure on him to do dethrone me, he did not listen to them.
“We are not ingrates in Osogbo. Osogbo is always united when it comes to Politics. I will never leave Aregbesola. I will always support him and all he represents,”
