Following the conclusion of the consultative works of the National Opposition Coalition Group and the successful unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the adoptive party of the opposition coalition for the 2027 election, the countdown to what promises to be an epic electoral contest has begun in earnest. Happenings around the country over the recent weeks are pointers to this.
The frenzied uptick in political maneuvering affirms the widely held perception that Bola Tinubu’s presidency and his APC government have effectively given up governance to focus on the 2027 election politicking. Thus, new alignments and realignments are being forged by political actors across the country as the support for the ADC gathers momentum. Nothing is being left to chance preparatory to the 2027 presidential election, as the country has been made to pay a rather high price for the governance incompetence and dysfunctions that previous elections had saddled on the country, a situation which has culminated in the unprecedented cost of living crisis that has engulfed the country.
Therefore, as the countdown to another general election begins, Restore Nigeria News (RNN) is, from Tuesday, July 22, initiating a special weekly leadership discourse series focused on the leaders and key personages whose efforts and contributions made the adoption and repositioning of the ADC possible. The publication aims to provide the Nigerian public with information and commentaries on the backgrounds of these leaders and persons who are organizing the ADC and are positioning it to present a formidable challenge to the ruling parties in the 2027 elections.
