2027 : Governors Can’t Help. Nigerians Will Defeat APC – el-rufai

Former Kaduna state governor and prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has asserted that the current trend of political defections among governors will not sway the voting choices of Nigerians in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

During a speech on Wednesday, November 19, at the launch of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Contact and Mobilisation Office in Jos, El-Rufai remarked that the significant defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) do not accurately represent the sentiments of the electorate.

“While governors from the PDP are moving to the APC, the citizens of Nigeria are turning towards the ADC. With God’s grace, 230 million Nigerians will overcome 25 governors,” he stated.

El-Rufai contended that the populace has lost faith in both the APC and PDP, asserting that the ADC is now drawing in individuals who are in search of trustworthy leadership as the 2027 elections approach.

“I am aware that the citizens are weary of the APC and PDP administrations throughout the nation. Nigerians have resolved that in 2027, they will cast their votes for the ADC,” he declared.

He further emphasized that the party promotes a more inclusive leadership framework, stating: “ADC is the only party that has allocated 40 percent of leadership roles to the youth and 35 percent to women. It is a party dedicated to young individuals and women.”

The former governor expressed his concerns regarding the deterioration of Plateau state over the years, conveying optimism that improved leadership at both state and national levels could bring about stability. “The situation in Jos and Plateau has taken a turn for the worse. I am hopeful that with enhanced leadership, we can bring together people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds. Plateau can regain its status as the Home of Peace and tourism that it has historically been,” he remarked.

He called upon the residents to support the ADC, asserting that the party possesses the ability to unify both Plateau and the entire nation.

The Plateau State Coordinator of the ADC Contact and Mobilisation Office, Hon Jamilu Lawandi Datti, also spoke to the assembly, emphasizing the importance of young individuals supporting the party. He noted that Nigerian youth are facing challenges such as unemployment, insecurity, substandard education, and insufficient healthcare, particularly in rural areas.

“Young individuals are enduring hardships, and they require a party that comprehends their difficulties,” Datti remarked. He urged the youth to unite in support of the ADC as the country approaches the upcoming general elections.
