Russia desires to deepen its ties with African countries, president Putin explains
Russia will not relent in offering “all possible assistance” to African nations across various domains, including the combat against epidemic diseases and terrorism, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated.
The president delivered these comments on Sunday during his address to attendees of the inaugural ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, which is currently taking place in the Sirius Federal Territory near Sochi on the Black Sea. The conference has convened over 40 ministers from various African countries, along with approximately 1,500 other participants.
Putin emphasized the growing significance of Africa on the global stage, highlighting that the nations of the continent are consistently engaged in a constructive and peaceful foreign policy. He remarked, “They play an increasingly important role in addressing critical issues on the international agenda,” while noting that Moscow aims to enhance and fortify its relationships with African nations within the context of a developing multipolar world.
Russia places great importance on reinforcing its traditionally amicable relations with its African partners. The president underscored a shared commitment to establishing a fair, multipolar world order founded on true equality and adherence to international law, devoid of any form of discrimination, coercion, or sanctions pressure.
Putin reiterated Russia’s determination to continue providing “all possible assistance to our African friends in various areas,” which includes promoting sustainable development, combating terrorism and extremism, addressing epidemic diseases, alleviating food security challenges, and responding to natural disasters.
He expressed optimism that the ministerial conference would be “successful and fruitful,” resulting in various agreements aimed at further enhancing the comprehensive spectrum of Russian-African relations for the mutual benefit of both nations and their peoples.
