Power Drunkenness – Tinubu Hails Wike

Says “He is a good man. He is a performing Minister.”

President Bola Tinubu has attributed the public criticism directed at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to the failure of Nigerians to adhere to rules and regulations.

Tinubu expressed this viewpoint during a media briefing at the State House on Tuesday.

In the interview with journalists, the President defended Wike in response to allegations of the FCT Minister’s administrative overeach and his involvement in land grabbing , an issue raised by Arise TV Presenter, Reuben Abati, who described Wike as the most controversial Minister in Tinubu’s administration.

In a clip from the interview shared on X, Tinubu referred to Wike as a competent Minister, attributing the discord between the minister and the public to Nigerians’ lack of compliance.

He lamented the delayed payment of ground rents by residents of the FCT, as well as their view of compliance as a burden.

The President commended Wike for his enforcement efforts in the FCT.

“He is a good man. He is a performing Minister.

“Nigerians lack compliance. We do not pay our ground rent punctually.

“We do not prioritize our responsibilities. We perceive compliance as an inconvenience. I commend him for his efforts,” the President stated.
